Our Volunteers

When someone calls JVAC’s volunteer emergency dispatch center, the person placing that call can be confident that those responding are trained and capable Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Paramedics or Physicians who passed demanding certification exams. Not only must a JVAC volunteer responder demonstrate strong emergency medical knowledge, but that individual must also exhibit an unquestionable moral caliber.

JVAC responders include people from all walks of life including those actively employed and retirees. Many have previous experience in the emergency medical field.  But all are residents of our South Florida community and are united by a common concern for their fellow human beings, regardless of race, nationality, gender, or religion.

For those without experience we can arrange training. Dispatchers are trained in-house, and we have an arrangement with a provider of on-line EMT training. We will reimburse the training costs of any applicant that successfully completes their EMT certification and our other rigorous qualifications and successfully joins our operations.

You see them every day of the week – including the Sabbath and Holy Days, and at all times of the day and night; dashing out of their homes, workplaces and houses of worship to perform acts of chessed (mercy). They think nothing of giving up time from work, interrupting their participation in family events or their prayers; when the call comes to save the life of another human being – in many cases someone they don’t even know.

While we can’t ask you to run with us when an emergency occurs in the middle of the night, we do need your financial support. Our expenses include fuel, medical supplies, insurance, etc. Become an active partner by making a donation now, by mail or by clicking here.
